OKADA BAN: RIDERS DEY CAUSE KATAKATA FOR LAGOS, DEY ATTACK POLICE

Over 150 Okada men, as dem dey react to di  ban. No retreat, no surrender, taskforce dey vow.

E no reach 24 hours after Lagos State Governor, wey be Babajide Sanwo-Olu place total ban on all di activity di people we we popularly know as “Okada” say make dem di activities for di state.

Di riders con change am finish, along Lagos-Badagry Expressway, as dem dey attack policemen and people wey dey drive dey pass for di process. Ok 

Di policemen wey armed for defence, con start to dey meet di Okada riders wey be mostly Hausa people of north part of Nigeria, and some oda country pipo dem.

As of press time, e dey confirmed say many pipo wound well well but so far we not sure say pesin die. Because di mata last from 9am for monin and e last for three hours.

Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, bin announce total ban on Okada for all di highways wey dey for six Local Government Areas (LGAs) and nine Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of di State.

Di ban go dey start from June 1, 2022, di Governor don direct security operatives dem say make dem make sure say di order must stand and make dem pass di infomation order across all di council wey dey listed. Di councils wey dey affected na Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Surulere, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, and Apapa.

Di total ban order even spread reach all LCDAs wey dey under di list of councils.

Di Governor give out di order for one meeting with Commissioner of Police, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) at State House for Alausa, Ikeja.

Di fresh Okada ban follow di February 2020 restriction wey dem bin place on di activity of okada riders dem.

Sanwo-Olu talk say di government take di decision in line with di State’s Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018 to quick address di katakata and madness wey di okada riders dem dey do for all dose area wey dem list.

Sanwo-Olu tell police say make dem enforce di order without mago mago , he even warn dem well we’ll say di goment no go gree for any security person wey go do anyhow untop to di order wey dey ground.

He talk say: “After di better review of our restriction on Okada activities for di first six Local Government Areas wey we bin restrict dem on February 1, 2020, we don see say dem never stop all dia nonsense.

Now we wan direct total ban on Okada activity for across di highways and bridge wey dey for dis six Local Government and even dia Local Council Development Areas, e go dey effective from June 1, 2022.

OJO POLICE OKADA RIDER CLASH

Trouble start when di men of Lagos State Taskforce, for one enfocment exercise for Ojo Local Goverment Area, LGA, clamp down one Okada rider for di area.

As e dey try comot from police say make dem no collect Im okada, Na so di okada men con dey atak di policemen dem with stone and dangeros wepon.

Di development lead to long traffic stand as both okada riders and other cars dem meet demsef for di violent clash.

For di protest, di Okada riders wey dey vex bin block Mile 2-Ojo-Badagry Expressway axis,  cas dat mean say dem break down di law and order of di state.

Police dem pack over 150 okada and dem even catch and arrest illegal shanties con destroy dem.

Di Okada riders dey maintain say dem go dey do dia they  business as the axis no dey affected by di ban order, and say, di ban suppose take effect from June 1 2022, so diafor, di protest, wey dem forget say ban don dey before say make dem no dey operate for highway again.

PEOPLE WEY DEY LIVE FOR DI AREA REACTion

As di clamp down on okada dey serous for some part of Lagos, some residents wey dey for Ikeja, don dey hail di ban say e good, dem talk say “e go reduce all di criminal activity to last for di state.”

Ahead of di enforcement ban, AMEBOUPATE don observe say som pipo don already dey obey as okada wey dey operate reduce for areas like: Oba Akinjobi Way, Adeniyi Jones, Obafemi Awolowo Road, Allen Junction, Ikeja Under Bridge and Alausa.

Same too for Ikeja Government Reserved Area (GRA) as di riders dem dey stayed off di axis.

However, di situation dey different for Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway as di riders still dey operate and dem do dia normal business.

We notice am too for Ladipo, Sogunle and PWD area.

Some of di dem wey tell our staff say di bam dey good and dem tell us say dem go dey adjust to di order wit time.

For Oba Akinjobi Way, Comrade Adesina Sobanke, dey talk say im dey doubt am say di federal goment go make sure say di ban continue as “No be di first time dem go dey ban okada to dey operate be dis one for Lagos.”

Adesina talk say, “I go adjust to di system, after all, di ban bin dey effective before and some of us bin don adjust to di system. My concern be say weda e go dey on ground or not.”

Funmilola Owolabi, wey be public servant, talk say don move on since dem enforce di ban years back.

“I bin dey ride am well well before but dis situation wey be say person go dey ride bike and police go dey pursue dem, e dey very risky. E don happen to me before and since den I no dey even ride am again.

Meanwhile, for di continue of total clamp untop okada men for di state, Lagos State Taskforce, wey Di Chairman lead, Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Shola Jejeloye, bin don storm Lekki axis for sting operation for afternoon, as dem seize least 115 okada as dem go dey break law and order for area wey dem no suppose pass.

Jejeloye  talk say di agency go make good promise to take make sure say di illegal business of dose people, say dem go frustrate all of dem for di state.
