AMEBOUPDATE gather say one tricycle operator (Keke napep driver) bin wan go pass the checkpoint when argument start between am and the police over N100.
The matter pass as e suppose as di policemen dem opened gunfire dey shoot.
In di ensuing melee, bullets hit 34-year-old Rukayat for her stomach.
Speaking with our correspondent for Thursday, di victim, who don dey hospital bed since di incident happened last Sunday, said her husband don already drive pass the the roadblock when di bullet hit am.
“I start to dey shout and alerted my husband. Immediately, he put im hand around my belle and dey see say blood dey come out. He park di car, con go meet di policemen dem and e start to dey argue with the policemen. By di time he come back, blood don dey comot for my husband head,” she add join.
Ibrahim, wey be surveyor, talk say di policemen brutalised(beat am up) unto say he call dia attention to his wife’s condition.
He explain say the incident happened while dem dey come back from wia dem go visit dia in-law. adding day despite say im and his wife dey bleed like say tomorrow no dey, di policemen no even look dia side, and di police men drive comot for one minibus(korogbe).
The father wey get four children talk say, “The incident happened around 8.30pm for Sunday when dey come back from our in-law house wey dey Agunfoye, in Adamo, Ikorodu.
We dey near one police checkpoint we can see policemen dey collect money from commercial drivers wey dey pass dat road.
“The tricycle(keke) operator wey dey my front det reluctant(no wan gree) to pay di N100 or N200 to di policemen, so what the policemen con do na, dem allow me to pass me while dem still dey argue with the operator. The policemen dem dey four; two out of dem dey look vehicles wey dey go toward Itokin, the other two monitored vehicles wey dey go Ikorodu.
“As I drive past the checkpoint, we suddenly just hear gunshots and my wife start to dey scream dey shout say dem don shoot am. She start to dey shout say she wan drink water, but as I stretched my hand to check the side of her stomach, I observed say she dey bleed.
“I quickly parked my vehicle, go down and I go to meet the policemen dem to tell them say they shoto my wife. While I Dey talk with vex, my wife dey tell me say make I Dey careful so the policemen no go shoot me. The policemen and I engaged for shouting match until one of them use one heavy object to hit my head and I start to dey bleed.”
The Kwara State indigene talk say he rushed his wife go di Ikorodu General Hospital, dem con transferred her to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for surgery.
While I Dey lament say over N150,000 don go untop Rukayat’s treatment, Ibrahim demand say make dem arrest and prosecution di policemen wey dey involve in the incident.
He say, “When I rushed my wife go the emergency unit of the Ikorodu General Hospital, she con dey normal small. The following day, dem referr my wife go to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, but dey reject am because of bed space.
“We informed officials wey dey Ikorodu General Hospital. But as we dey return there, one of di officials call and tell us say make we go to LASUTH, where a dem don secure bed space for us. Dem admit am there and we do X-ray wey reveal say two bullets dey inside her system(body).
“Dey also talk say blood dey her chest; dey tell us make we buy some medicine and other things they need. After we get them, she undergo surgery. They remove one bullet from her body, but the second bullet dem no remove am as the doctors talk say, e go suppressed with antibiotics.
“My wife don spend five days for the hospital. I report the case for the Sagamu Road Police Station and dem talk say an investigation go be conducted. I want those policemen make dem prosecuted dem.”
